About the studio
A chart markup studio for traders who write plans before they trade
File Laurel Field Studio opened in 2019 to give Bangkok-area traders a quiet place to practise pre-entry planning — away from chat rooms, signal feeds, and the pressure to click buy before the stop is marked.
Registered business
Official name: File Laurel Field Studio Co., Ltd.
Established: 2019
Studio address: 229 Somdet Chao Phraya Road, Khlong San, Bangkok 10600
How we started
Founder Somchai Laurel spent a decade trading Thai equities and regional FX from a home office near the Chao Phraya river. After a string of entries made without written stop levels, he began printing chart panels and filling them in before every session. Colleagues asked to join, then asked for copies of the panels. By 2019, the markup practice had outgrown the dining table — and File Laurel Field Studio opened on Somdet Chao Phraya Road with six seats, a projector, and a stack of workbooks.
We are not a brokerage, signal service, or fund. We teach the planning step that precedes execution: structure, invalidation, reward multiple, and a written go/no-go checklist.
Our instructors
Somchai Laurel — Lead instructor
Somchai traded SET-listed stocks and USD/THB for twelve years before focusing full-time on training. He developed the four-panel workbook used in every flagship session and still leads two cohorts per month.
Naree Field — Chart review specialist
Naree joined in 2021 after five years as an independent swing trader covering ASEAN indices. She leads the Chart Review Clinic and co-facilitates the Weekly Markup Lab. Her feedback focuses on stop placement relative to session volatility.
Working approach
Sessions are small, paper-heavy, and chart-specific. We do not demo proprietary indicators or sell add-on software. You bring charts from markets you actually trade; we mark them up together using the same workbook sequence every time.
Values we hold in every session:
- Plan first: Stop and target are written before entry timing is discussed.
- Honest review: We say when a setup does not clear your stated threshold — skipping is a valid outcome.
- Local context: Examples include Bangkok session opens, SET lunch breaks, and holiday-thinned liquidity.
Relationship to the trading community
We host an occasional open markup evening for alumni and maintain a Field Notes journal with articles on placement technique, session timing, and workbook updates. Several local trading meetup groups have held one-off sessions at the studio — enquire if your group needs a structured markup afternoon.
